After yet another close loss the team is down and the organization is changing. In respects to financial disputes the ownership group is at odds and it clearly is affecting the team. With rumors of these changes floating around the coaches are urging the players to focus on the games and not the outside distractions. It seems to me that a lot of financing issues were overlooked by the owners and now the team is paying for it. It seems that the owners should have been on the same page with budgeting and business planning, unfortunately they were not.
Week 10 is the midseason and this is now Week 11, changes are being made to make a push for the playoffs. The team is 3-6 but the fact that the majority of our conference has losing records and the remaining games will be against weaker opponents has set us up with the possibility to make the playoffs. Some of these changes pertain to scout players at specific positions to provide us with depth and maybe a new player.
After another loss the morale is low but improvements can be seen at every position. This losing streak is against the top 3 teams in the league and now its time to turn the corner. This week we prepared for Cleveland a tough, but winnable game. I have continued to work with lineman because it is my favorite position group to work with.
The end of the week walk through this week had a more serious feel in preparation of playing the Soul. We had issues due to trying to sign a new QB at the same time we are on a transaction hold, from the league, preventing us from making any signings. The walk through ended and all of the scouts loaded up the equipment truck as the team prepared to play Philadelphia.
The second day of practice this week we were still evaluating new QBs and coming back from a loss. I set up the field and helped out with the offensive and defensive line today. It is easy to see they are improving and working together to get better. The coach emphasized the importance of criticism among each other as encouragement to improve.
We opened up the week after another loss and got to work. Today we spent extra time working through things we performed poorly in the game. With an injury to our starting QB we brought in two new quarterbacks to possibly add depth. During practice I set up the field and worked with QBs and WRs and experienced how we evaluated the new QBs.
Being a home game everyone was expected to help make sure all the operations were taken care of. We had to make sure everyone’s tickets were taken to roll call, make sure all the players had their equipment and prep all the footballs. Once we completed all the operations it was time for the game. During the game we had a couple requests from players but besides that we had to evaluate player’s performances. Unfortunately we lost and after the game was over we needed to take care of the dirty laundry and make sure the game day and player’s equipment were loaded onto the truck.
Friday we prepped the arena for game day. We made sure that all the essential equipment we were responsible for made it to the arena. Following that we set up the player’s equipment in the locker room and then we prepped the trainer’s room.
